Label : Nuclear Blast
Release : 26-2-2016
After a 5-year release break the metal pioneers of Anthrax are back in 2016 with a new album. "For All Kings" is the name of the record, which once again features a bombastic mixture of Thrash and Heavy Metal.
This is the first production with Jon Donais on lead guitar. He came to replace Rob Caggiano in 2013. Otherwise, everything has remained the same: Joey Belladonna takes over the vocals, band founder Scott Ian the rhythm guitar, Frank Bello the bass and Charlie Benante the drums.
Already in 2014 Anthrax had started recording for "For All Kings". In the course of time, the band wrote about 20 songs together, of which eleven made it onto the new album at the end, including the singles "Evil Twin" (October 2015) and "Breathing Lightning" (January 2016). Both songs make clear without detours what listeners can expect from "For All Kings": untamed thrashy yet melodic heavy metal, clever songwriting and songs with an important message.
In songs such as "Evil Twin" and "Zero Tolerance", for example, they settle for religious fanaticism. There is also a message behind the album's title: anyone can be their own king by taking responsibility for themselves and their stuff, Scott Ian said.
The recording of "For All Kings" was taken care of by Jay Ruston, an old acquaintance. The producer had already been in charge of the predecessor "Worship Music" from 2011.
"For All Kings" is available as a standard CD, a double LP and a double CD with four additional live tracks. Real anthrax fans will get their money's worth with the Limited Super Deluxe Box. This includes two CDs and two LPs (Picture Discs) as well as selected Anthrax merchandise.
Anthrax present another highlight of their career: "For All Kings" combines intense metal with serious and honest content. An album by kings for kings.
