Flotsam and Jetsam

Flotsam and Jetsam is an American thrash metal band from Phoenix, Arizona, formed in 1981. The band gained wider recognition when bassist Jason Newsted left in 1986 to join Metallica. Their debut album Doomsday for the Deceiver (1986) is considered a thrash metal classic. Flotsam and Jetsam blends fast riffs, aggressive drumming, and melodic vocals into a powerful sound. Over the years, they’ve released over ten studio albums, including No Place for Disgrace (1988) and Blood in the Water (2021). Despite lineup changes, the band has stayed true to its roots and continues to deliver intense live shows. They are widely regarded as pioneers of the American thrash scene.
