Long before becoming one of the most influential names in atmospheric rock and metal, The Gathering made their mark with Always..., their remarkable 1992 debut album. The Dutch band combined crushing death metal riffs, deep growling vocals and melancholic melodies with atmospheric keyboards, creating a dark and distinctive sound that helped shape the early European doom and death metal scene.
Featuring Bart Smits on lead vocals alongside the haunting female voice of Marike Groot, Always... captures The Gathering during their earliest and heaviest period. Tracks such as “The Mirror Waters”, “Subzero” and “In Sickness and Health” showcase the band's ability to blend aggressive death metal with slower doom passages and atmospheric arrangements. Even at this early stage, their musical identity was unmistakable.
This special edition comes on stunning Picture Disc vinyl, featuring artwork printed directly onto the record. A striking collector's edition of a legendary debut album and an essential addition for fans of Dutch metal, gothic doom and collectible vinyl.
